About the Foundation College

The International Foundation College at Paderborn University offers specific preparation courses for international students who are interested in studying mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, industrial engineering, mathematics, computer sciences, physics, chemistry, business studies, economics, and more.

The foundation college helps high school graduates whose school diploma does not directly entitle them to enter a bachelor study program at a German institution of higher education. It offers necessary courses which, after successfully passing the final assessment exam (Feststellungsprüfung/FSP), provide access to technical and scientific higher education programs at all German universities and universities of applied sciences.

After completing the final exam (FSP), students can begin their studies in bachelor programs with unrestricted admissions in the MINT sciences at the University of Paderborn or other universities in North Rhine-Westphalia. For restricted study courses, specific admission is required.

Students enrolled in the foundation college receive full student status, including a student ID card with benefits such as discounted meals, library access, and free public transportation throughout the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
